Maynard Golf Course, previously a member-owned semi-private course named Maynard Country Club, is now a public, municipal 9 hole golf course. Maynard Golf Course is located in Maynard, Massachusetts.
The course first opened for play in 1921. The course was designed by Wayne Stiles.
Maynard has narrow fairways and small greens. A stream bisects the fairways on four holes.
Blue tees: par-35, 3,013 yards
White tees: par-35, 2,853 yards
Yellow tees: par-35, 2,718 yards
Red tees: par-35, 2,601 yards
HOLE 1 – Par 4, “The Road Hole,” 385 Yards
Great opening hole. A slight dogleg right but don’t be tricked into cutting the corner with your tee shot. A drive up the left-center will give you a nice opening to this long undulating green. Don’t go long with your approach shot.
HOLE 2 – Par 5, ” Willow,” 512 Yards
A straightaway tee shot will set up a very demanding second shot over the brook. Make sure and take enough club on your third shot to clear the bunker to the flattest green on the course. Good birdie opportunity.
HOLE 3 – Par 3, “The Mountain,” 170 Yards
A straight uphill tee shot to a very wide but shallow green. Only 170 yards long from the back tee but the toughest hole on the course. Green is severely sloped from back to front. Any tee shot over this green leaves a near impossible chip shot.
HOLE 4 – Par 4, “Water,” 372 Yards
Decision off the tee is to stay to the left of the pond or to try and carry it. A well-placed tee shot will leave a short iron to a very deep green. Knowing where the pin is on this green is very important.
HOLE 5 – Par 4, “The Brook,” 365 Yards
This short but demanding par 4 requires an accurate tee shot to the right of the tree line. Be careful to not go too far right because there is a brook all the way down the right side. This is the smallest green on the course. Make sure and avoid the deep bunkers on your approach.
HOLE 6 – Par 3, “Trap,” 196 Yards
Great uphill par 3 guarded by a huge deep bunker. Green slopes severely from back to front so avoid going long.
HOLE 7 – Par 4, “Dog Leg,” 353 Yards
A sharp dogleg left requires a well-placed tee shot. Green is well guarded by 2 bunkers.
HOLE 8 – Par 4, “Lay Up,” 348 Yards
A blind tee shot over a hill that favors the right side. You must lay up short of a brook that crosses the fairway at 240 yards. The second shot plays 1/2 club longer than the yardage suggests.
HOLE 9 – Par 4, “Clubhouse,” 312 Yards
Short par 4 demands a well-placed layup left of the pond. 2nd shot plays uphill so take an extra club to get to this large green guarded by bunkers left and right.
